The Highland Park Public School District is pleased to welcome Mr. Justin Grossman as the new Principal of Irving Primary School for the 2026–2027 school year.
Mr. Grossman joins Highland Park with a diverse background in elementary education and educational leadership. He has served as an elementary classroom teacher, director of a residential camp, and, most recently, District Elementary Instructional Facilitator for the Summit Public Schools. Throughout his career, Mr. Grossman has been committed to creating joyful school communities where every child feels known, challenged, supported, and valued.
“From my very first conversations, I felt something special about Irving School and this community,” Mr. Grossman shared in his welcome letter to Irving families. “I experienced a culture that is nurturing, joyful, and deeply committed to children. I knew this was a place where I wanted to invest my heart and my leadership.”
As he begins his tenure at Irving, Mr. Grossman has identified three guiding commitments: ensuring that every student, staff member, and family feels seen, valued, and a true sense of belonging; grounding decisions in what is in the best interest of students; and embracing thoughtful, intentional growth while honoring the traditions and strengths that make Irving special.
Mr. Grossman describes his leadership philosophy as one rooted in partnership, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among students, families, and educators. He looks forward to listening, learning, and building relationships throughout the Highland Park community.
“Becoming Principal of Irving is a responsibility I do not take lightly,” Mr. Grossman said. “It is a privilege to lead a school entrusted with the education and care of our youngest learners.”
The Highland Park Public School District is excited to welcome Mr. Grossman to the district and looks forward to the leadership, energy, and commitment he will bring to the Irving School community.
Families will have opportunities to meet Mr. Grossman, including at an upcoming “Popsicles with the Principal” event. Additional information will be shared with the Irving community as the start of the school year approaches.
