Superintendent’s Report: This month’s student spotlight recognized Jeremiah Moussa and Jules Sasso for their positive contributions to the high school community. Both students exemplify strong character, commitment to learning, and leadership among their peers.
During the Superintendent’s report, Thea Pace and Jessica Hanat presented the recent Champions client survey, providing insight into participant and family experiences within the program. Their presentation, which can be viewed by clicking here, highlighted areas of strength, including supportive relationships and program responsiveness, as well as opportunities for continued improvement. The data shared will inform ongoing program refinement and reinforce the district’s commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality student services.
Curriculum and Instruction:
The district uses Linewize to filter appropriate websites for students. It errs on the side of blocking sites. However, as proxies sites develop, the software must adapt to block those websites. Therefore, it is a constant battle as new sites pop up and it takes all of us to monitor use on chromebooks. If parents have issues with websites that students are accessing on chromebooks, please report them to the teacher who can submit tickets to IT as needed.
The boards also approved a number of field trips including kindergarten going to see a play at the State Theatre, Bartle going to the NJ State Museum, Global Citizenship students going to Rutgers, and HS Spanish going to NY to see a play at Repertorio Espanol.
Lastly, look for parent focus groups as part of the continued Comegno Institute evaluation.
Finance and Facilities: The board approved change orders to the Bartle structural repair that includes additional repairs to two columns, replacement stairs to boiler room, replacement of mechanical room door and addition of door to Business Office. The board also approved the submission of a Local Recreation Grant that would add improvements to district recreation spaces shared with the community. The committee provided updates on the Bartle boy’s bathroom renovations, Pre-K classroom construction, and the baseball field projects. The Bartle boy’s bathroom renovation should be completed in early February. The Pre-K classroom should be completed by August 31st and will open up 15 seats in the district’s Pre-K program. The baseball field project is almost complete- the final tasks include landscaping the entrance and adding additional soil in the spring.
Policy: The Board approved Policy #8454 Management of Pediculosis (Head Lice) for full adoption. The updated policy goes into effect immediately with more information being distributed from the school nurses.
