Superintendent’s Report: The Superintendent’s Report highlighted student achievement and service, featuring a Middle School student spotlight recognizing Asena Erkan, an eighth-grade student. The Board also formally recognized the service of Board Member Jennifer Voorhees with a presentation of appreciation. In addition, the Board received the annual audit presentation linked here from the district’s external auditors, reinforcing transparency, fiscal accountability, and compliance with all applicable reporting requirements.

Curriculum and Instruction: ELA benchmarks show generally stable performance across grades, with early elementary results at Irving and Bartle largely consistent with last year and modest gains in several grade levels. Middle school ELA demonstrates significant improvement compared to the same time period last year, with substantially higher percentages of students performing at or above grade level.

Math benchmarks (enVision, K–8) reflect mixed results. Irving shows stability in kindergarten and notable improvement in first grade compared to last year. Bartle’s elementary grades are largely in line with last year’s early benchmarks, with a notable increase in fifth grade. In contrast, middle school math results show a significant decline compared to the same point last year, identifying an area for focused instructional attention.

Equity and Excellence: The committee reported on updates regarding the special education program evaluation being conducted by the Comegno Institute and an overview of supports being provided to students to strengthen student achievement. These include IXL, Read 180, ELA interventionists at Irving and Bartle, a part-time math interventionist at Irving, staffing and support for multi-lingual learners, and targeted after-school programs through Title I funding like Brother’s Mentoring, academic enrichment and WISE connection.

Finance and Facilities:  The Board approved work on many facilities projects that are in this year’s budget, including replacement and repair of bleachers, replacement of the fire alarm panel, and repairs to the HVAC systems  at the middle and high school, replacement of door hardware in the high school. Change orders were approved to continue the work on the Bartle Structural Repair and a bid was accepted for the cafeteria alteration in Irving to add a Pre-K classroom.
