Superintendent’s Report: The Superintendent shared the results of the Spring NJGPA and ACCESS test data. Click here to view the presentation. Additionally, Dr. Susca reported that the transition to Champions, the District’s new Before and After Care Program, is underway including interviewing staff, enrolling families, and working with our families on subsidy applications. Click here for our middle school, Bartle and Irving families that would like to register students in the program. 

Lastly, Dr. Susca provided an update regarding out-of-state overnight field trips. She has a meeting scheduled this week with staff to review the proposal to continue trips for the upcoming school year and to sustain them in the long term. Analysis around funding was complicated and as comprehensive as possible to ensure timely updates. Dr. Susca will send out communication regarding updates after receiving feedback from staff and the board. 


Curriculum and Instruction: The Board approved curriculum, textbooks, and mandated programs for the upcoming school year. Additionally, a Violence Awareness Program, the Stephanie Nicole Parze Foundation, for high school seniors was approved for October 13, 2025. Lastly, the district’s Interim Review towards NJQSAC requirements found that due to student growth on the state exams we passed for Instruction and Programs. Although we passed QSAC the administrative team will continue the District’s Improvement Plan to ensure our growth in this area continues. 

Finance and Facilities:  The Board voted to increase the bid threshold following new State guidelines and to approve submission of the IDEA grant application totalling $501,273, In addition, it approved contractors for professional development, including NJ Coalition for Inclusive Education for staff training and Jana Lee Consulting for continued work on Co-Teaching by Design.

Policy: The Board approved two items for second reading, the first is the changes to policy and regulation 5516 - Use of Electronic Communication Devices, and the second is policy and regulation 9320 - Cooperation with Law Enforcement Agencies. Regulation 5516 involves a total ban of cell phones and other electronic communication and recording devices at Irving, Bartle and Middle School for the upcoming school year, as well as a ban during instructional time at the High School.
