The Highland Park School District is pleased to announce the addition of two outstanding leaders to its administrative team: Dr. Marc Mortellaro (pictured on the left), who joins as the new Athletic Programs and Sports Medicine Administrator, and Dr. Derek Ressa (pictured on the right), serving as Interim Executive Director of Personnel and Student Services.

Dr. Marc Mortellaro brings over 15 years of dynamic experience in healthcare, athletics, and leadership. A certified athletic trainer and seasoned healthcare executive, Dr. Mortellaro has held prominent roles at Columbia University Medical Center and the Hospital for Special Surgery. His background includes strategic oversight of athletic training services, sports medicine program development, and leadership in clinical operations. A former collegiate athlete himself, Dr. Mortellaro is deeply committed to promoting student-athlete wellness, performance, and leadership both on and off the field. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Professions Leadership from Seton Hall University and has taught extensively at the college level.

Dr. Derek Ressa joins Highland Park with more than two decades of educational experience, including 14 years as a Director of Special Services across multiple New Jersey districts. His expertise spans special education programming, professional development, and student support services. A passionate advocate for inclusive education and student well-being, Dr. Ressa holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and is recognized for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to excellence in student services.

The Highland Park School District is excited to welcome these two leaders and looks forward to the valuable expertise and student-centered leadership they will bring to our schools and community.
