Grades 6-12 G&T Program

Grade 6- Math+ Course Offering

All students entering 6th grade during the 2021-2022 school year and beyond will be placed in Math 6+. This course is designed so that all students can develop the requisite skills in mathematics. It is also designed to allow for differentiated instruction so that all students have the opportunity for success: Students who need enrichment will continue to receive the appropriate supports. 

Grades 7 & 8- Advanced Math Course Offerings

HPMS has advanced level classes in the core academic area of mathematics. We offer Pre-Algebra and Algebra for 7th grade students, as well as Algebra and Geometry for 8th grade students.  

Grades 9-12- Honors and Advanced Placement Course Offerings

HPHS has honors level courses in all cores academic areas including English, Math, Science, and World Languages at each grade level except for 9th grade World History which is an all-inclusive course and Mandarin which is a relatively new offering at the high school.  We offer 15 different AP courses for our students to begin taking in 9th grade with principal approval.  AP courses are usually taken beginning in junior year except for courses like AP Music theory and AP Psychology which have traditionally been available to students beginning in their sophomore year.  Additionally, our gifted and talented students have numerous co-curricular and extracurricular programs to choose from to enrich their high school experience including Robotics, Mathletes, Model UN & Model Congress, Mock Trial, DECA, and advanced music ensembles for Choir, Band, and Orchestra.  Junior and senior students can also present independent study proposals for approval by the principal once they have identified a faculty advisor for their proposed course or an outside vendor.  These independent studies have included courses such as Multivariable Calculus and Microeconomics and various other advanced coursework.
