Project Synopsis: Renovation of Highland Park High School Baseball Field

Renovation work is currently underway at the Highland Park High School baseball field, made possible through a generous gift from Ida Kushner, facilitated by the Highland Park Athletics Boosters. This project marks a significant investment in the school’s athletic facilities and is enhancing the experience for student-athletes and the wider school community.

Key improvements being implemented include the installation of new fencing, upgraded backstops, and modernized home and away dugouts. Dedicated practice pitching mounds for both home and visiting teams are also being constructed to support enhanced training opportunities.

To restore optimal playability, new clay is being added to the infield, which is being thoroughly turned and groomed. The outfield is receiving additional soil to level uneven areas and improve drainage. A full reseeding of the outfield is planned for the fall to promote healthy, long-lasting turf.

This ongoing renovation is delivering a safer, more functional, and visually improved baseball field that reflects the pride and commitment of the Highland Park community to its student-athletes.

Project Synopsis: Renovation of 2nd Floor Boys’ Lavatory – Bartle Elementary School

The upcoming project involves the complete renovation of the 2nd floor boys’ lavatory at Bartle Elementary School. This restroom has been identified for renovation due to ongoing issues with both water supply and drain lines, which have negatively impacted its functionality and reliability.

The scope of work will begin with the remediation of asbestos-containing materials, to be conducted in full compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations. Once remediation is complete, demolition will take place, including the removal of all existing plumbing fixtures, partitions, ceilings, wall finishes, and flooring.

All current plumbing supply and sanitary lines will be removed and replaced with updated systems that meet modern code requirements and are designed for long-term performance. In addition, new energy-efficient lighting, updated HVAC components, and exhaust fans will be installed to enhance ventilation, energy efficiency, and overall user comfort.

Upon completion, this renovation will result in a modern, safe, and fully functional restroom facility that aligns with current standards and improves the overall building environment for students.

Project Synopsis: Structural Beam Replacement and Associated Work – Bartle Elementary School

This project involves the replacement of a structural support beam at Bartle Elementary School, along with several associated scope items aimed at improving the integrity and functionality of the building’s mechanical and office areas.

As part of the work, two outdated boilers will be removed to allow for safe and efficient access to the beam. The school’s water heater will be relocated to accommodate the structural modifications and to optimize space within the mechanical room.

In addition to the structural and mechanical work, extensive concrete floor repairs will be performed in the Business Office due to underlying damage caused by past system leaks and age-related deterioration.

Exterior site work will include the removal of an existing cement walkway and the corresponding exterior door that previously provided access to it. The project will also include the replacement of the mechanical room’s exterior doors, improving security, energy efficiency, and long-term durability.

The combined scope of work is designed to enhance building safety, operational efficiency, and support the long-term maintenance needs of the facility.
